Mr. Kahawa and JENGA at the Zanzibar Beach and Watersports Festival

This year, in the weekend of the 29th of September until the 1st of October, the 7th edition of the Zanzibar Beach & Watersports Festival will be hold in Jambiani. What started off as a small event in 2011, now is the biggest festival hold on the East-Coast.

The festival takes place in Mfumbwi, in the south of Jambiani, between Coral Rock Hotel and Red Monkey Lodge. The Beach and Watersports Festival is an open event, where locals, expats and tourists all come together on this beautiful part of the island. Talented East-African musicians take care of the live music during the whole weekend and also the international DJ’s make sure you cannot stop moving! Visitors can participate in the different workshops, join the yoga classes, get their first kitesurf experience, show their skills in the volleyball competition or cheer for their favourite football team. For the full program visit the ZBWF website here.

But of course all these activities can’t be done with an empty stomach. For the last two years, Mr. Kahawa has been part of the festival and also this year we cannot stay away. From Friday to Sunday we’ll be there on the food court, doing what we do best. With our sweet and savoury pastries and pies, fluffy sour dough bread of Bora Bakery, creamy hummus and crispy falafel, we hope to make all those bellies satisfied and all those faces smiling. But Mr. Kahawa doesn’t come alone! Right on our side JENGA will be there selling fair trade handy crafts, supporting local entrepreneurs and artisans. Not sure how that kitenge dress will look like? Don’t miss the JENGA fashion show hold on Saturday at 3.30 PM!
