Our ongoing adventure started in 2006, when we as founders of Kite Centre Zanzibar and Mr. Kahawa visited Zanzibar for the very first time. Backpacking through Africa, we – Melanie and Dim – were in search for the best kite surf locations. As young Dutch adventurers, we immediately fell in love with Zanzibars nature, the pristine beaches, the cultural heritage but mostly the welcoming people, their kindness and relaxed attitude. We believe travel is meant to educate both travellers and local communities. Being active, curious and conscious travellers ourselves, we strive to introduce you to the Zanzibar we have felled in love with so many years ago, and the Zanzibar we are still in love with today.

Shallow waters, warm temperatures, unique views and constant winds make Paje a unique kite surfing destination.
As early explorers of the island, the founders of Kite Centre Zanzibar & Mr. Kahawa started riding on Paje’s waters in 2006, the year they opened the first original kite surf school on Paje beach in Zanzibar.
Paje was still untouched and unexplored and there were limited options for quality coffee, healthy food and fast internet. Mr. Kahawa emerged out of these needs in 2014. Step by step, season per season, Mr. Kahawa developed from a small coffee shop into a full service, authentic boutique hotel where you can reside in the restaurant or the café on the beach, with a book and a cocktail at the pool or on your kite board or SUP board in the pristine waters of the lagoon.
